You can install your camo net in two different ways: either tensionned between four anchor points like a shade sail, or draped as a cover and fixed with zip ties (ideal for pergolas or balcony railings)
Option 1: Fixing between anchoir points
This process is similar to installing a shade sail, with one key difference: there's no need to tension the netting as much.
Since camo netting allows water to pass through, there's no risk of water pooling during rain.
- Select four stable anchor points Choose locations such as trees, posts, pergolas, or wall anchors. Keep 14" to 36" of space between the anchor points and the netting corners to ensure optimal tension and stability.
- Attach the netting’s metal D-rings Use ropes, carabiners, or bungee cords to connect the metal D-rings on the corners of the camo netting to the anchor points. For precise tension adjustments, we recommend using turnbuckles on two of the corners.
- Fix the cornersStart by securing one corner and then fix the opposite corner to set the desired tension and angle for the netting.
- Adjust the remaining corners Once the first two corners are fixed, adjust the other two corners to eliminate any sagging and ensure the fabric is evenly balanced.
- Tighten progressively Tighten each anchor point gradually to avoid overstretching. This ensures even tension across the netting and prevents damage.
- Verify stability Check for smooth contact between the netting and anchors with no sharp friction points. Make any necessary adjustments to secure the setup and ensure long-term stability.
Option 2: Fixing as a cover with zip ties (Ideal for pergolas)
If you're installing the camo netting on a pergola or another structure where ropes might not be suitable, zip ties offer a quick and secure alternative.
- Lay the net evenly on the area to cover Lay the net along the edges of the area you wish to cover, such as pergola top frame. Make sure the edges of the net are parallel to the beams or frame
- Attach the netting’s edge with zip ties Instead of fixing just the corners, use zip ties along the entire edge of the camo netting. Secure the edges of the netting to the beam with zip ties. Be sure to evenly distribute the ties to prevent moving or sagging.
- Check stabilityVerify that the netting is securely attached, and check for any areas with sharp friction or uneven tension. Adjust the zip ties as needed for a smooth, stable setup.

Styled with our camo netting
Common questions
Definitely. Our camo nets are made with durable, UV-resistant materials that can stand up to sun, wind, and rain. For longer-term use, choose versions with reinforced edges or added mesh backing for extra strength.
No, camo netting is not waterproof. It’s made of open mesh, so rain passes right through. But don’t worry, it won’t get damaged by rain or humidity. It’s designed to handle outdoor conditions without falling apart.
This depends on how the net is installed. If it is draped over a frame or structure (a pergola, for example), the frame takes the weight of the snow and the netting is not under stress. In this case, snow is not an issue.
If the net is tensioned between four anchor points, it can handle a light dusting of snow when properly tensioned. However, if snow starts to accumulate, we recommend taking the net down until conditions clear. The added weight can stretch or damage the netting over time.
Camo nets have a wide range of uses, both practical and decorative:
- Decoration: they add a rugged, natural look to garden areas, festivals, or themed events
- Shade: tensioned between anchor points, it won’t block the sun completely, but it softens the light, reduces glare and lowers temperature while creating a beautiful dappled light effect underneath
- Privacy screens: they can be hung as discreet barriers along fences, balconies, or patio edges
- Pergola covers and curtains: draped over or hung around a pergola, they provide shade and a natural aesthetic at the same time
- Concealment: they allow you to create blinds or hides for hunting or wildlife observation
- Camouflage: they blend into natural surroundings across a range of patterns, making them suitable for wildlife photography and field observation
- Sun protection: they provide breathable shade for patios, gardens, or outdoor seating areas
- Military and training applications: used in field setups for realistic military camouflage
The right size depends on your installation method.
Draped over a structure or used as a cover (pergola, balcony railing, curtain): aim for a size as close as possible to the exact dimensions of the area you want to cover. Buying slightly larger is fine, as the extra fabric gives you more material to work with when securing the net in place.
Tensioned between four anchor points: you will need a net slightly smaller than the full area measurement. Leave 2 to 6 feet less than the area in both dimensions (1 to 3 feet per side) to allow room for the hardware: turnbuckles, snap hooks, rope, and so on. A net that matches the area exactly will not leave enough slack to attach the tensioning hardware properly.

No, our camo netting is not fire retardant by default. However, since it’s made from polyester, it can be treated with a fire retardant coating if needed. This treatment is commonly used for professional projects or indoor applications where fire safety is required.
